In honoring our commitment to showing the evolving trends and concepts that shape contemporary ceramics, we welcome writing that deepens the understanding of clay as a material of artistic, social, and ecological inquiry. We seek contributions that approach ceramics through diverse perspectives \u2014 artistic, curatorial, historical, philosophical, political, or environmental.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Submission deadline for proposals\/pitches<\/strong>: January 15, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We are particularly interested in<\/strong>:<br>\u2022 Critical essays and research articles \u2014 Exploring ideas such as materiality, sustainability, ecology, identity, temporality, and postcolonial or cultural frameworks in ceramic practice.<br>\u2022 Reviews and features \u2014 Covering key exhibitions, biennials, fairs, and collaborative projects that expand the field of ceramics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples of topics we&#8217;d like to cover:<br>\u2022 Representation and access in contemporary ceramics \u2014 how race, geography, class, and institutional structures shape visibility and opportunity.<br>\u2022 Sustainability and ethics \u2014 material sourcing, ecological impact, and evolving sustainable practices within ceramic production and exhibition.<br>\u2022 The ceramic art market \u2014 how visibility, institutional validation, and collecting trends shape artistic direction.<br>\u2022 Pedagogy and transmission of knowledge \u2014 how ceramics is taught, learned, and passed on across institutions, community studios, and informal settings.<br>\u2022 Interdisciplinary and post-disciplinary practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that this call for papers is not intended for artist profile submissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before submitting an article, you are encouraged to contact the editor at vasi@ceramicsnow.org with a brief outline of your proposal. We prioritize articles grounded in original research that have not previously been published elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Articles should range between 1500 and 3000 words.<br>\u2022 Please include high-resolution images with appropriate credits.<br>\u2022 Along with your article, provide a short biography.<br>\u2022 We offer at least $200 for selected articles, made possible through the support of Ceramics Now&#8217;s patron subscribers, who contribute to our Writers Fund.<br>\u2022 We can assist with arranging guided tours, securing exhibition tickets, and setting up relevant meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Articles published in Ceramics Now and Ceramics Now Magazine reach a broad international audience passionate about ceramic art. Over 50,000 people read Ceramics Now each month, and the publication reaches around 600,000 monthly views on social media. More than half of our readers are from the US, 25% are from the EU, and 15% are from the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All our content is accessible to everyone and free of charge. Ceramics Now is an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceramicsnow.org\/subscribe\/\">independent publication sustained by its members<\/a>.
